What is the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society?
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is a national voluntary health agency dedicated to finding the cause, treatments and cures for leukemia, Hodgkin’s disease, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and myeloma.

There are 58 chapters of the Society, which support five major programs. These principal programs include research to find a cure, public and professional education about leukemia, support programs for families of patients and financial aid to patients of leukemia.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has made significant progress in the treatment of leukemia and is committed to helping find a cure. The Society, established in 1949, was rated 7th out of the top 100 health organization charities in 1991. That year, the Society delivered 79% of its income to its target programs.

The Society is a 501c(3) not-for-profit organization and donors qualify for the maximum charitable contribution deduction prescribed by the U.S. Internal Revenue Code under Section 509 (a).

What is Team in Training?
Team in Training is a comprehensive endurance-training program for fund raising volunteers to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The goal of Team in Training is to increase funding to support the Society’s mission while promoting fitness and healthy lifestyles. Participation in Team in Training represents not only an incredible commitment to yourself to complete an endurance event, but also to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in the search for a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. We invite you to join our Team and train for any of this season’s events (link to current season’s events). Team in Training is first and foremost a fund raising program. The program’s primary objective is to raise money so researchers will find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is committee to keeping expenses below 25%, so that 75% of all funds raised go directly to research and patient services.

Team in Training is the nation’s longest running and most successful endurance training program.

Our endurance training provides teams of dedicated novice and veteran athletes with:

  • A 3- to 5-month integrated training program
  • Professional coaches and experienced mentors
  • Flexible training schedules and weekend workouts
  • Optional clinics on nutrition, equipment, injury prevention, sports psychology, form, and technique

As you train, you and your teammates will meet local patients who face even greater challenges. Your efforts help bring their fight against these deadly diseases one step closer to an end.
